steveklong: You are right, it doesnt show the exact size of the angle of the plane, but it absolutely doesnt matter. The way how the smartstick works is enough, the details you will do with your regular golf club. For me was the most important point the release and the work of the hands and wrists, this is with the smatrstick perfect.

Yes, it does show if your plane is too flat or too steep. You line the laser up on the target line (the imaginary line that passes from the ball through the target) and no matter whether you have a flat plane like Hogan or a steep plane like Davis Love III, if you keep the laser on the target line throughout the swing, you will be on the correct plane for your posture. I have used a similar product, and it works quite well.
