I have natrual strong grip always have ala Fred Couples, David Duval and Paul Azinger. My playing partners say my grip is too strong thats why they call me a cheap hooker. After reading this book and following John Redman advice to hold on to the club with releasing i am hitting stright now and leaving my hands passive and just use my lower body it has helped me out

John Redman’s Essentials of the Golf Swing
This is a highly personal instruction from a well known teacher. I liked the book very much and found it to be an effortless read. His teachings however are away from mainstream. The “modern swing” teaching currently promotes a very limited and passive hip turn. I am sure his swing method is a very effective for a segment of the golfing population but I would like to hear analysis of the Redman method by other recognized swing experts to get a balanced perspective on its place in the swing-world. Besides Paul Azinger are the well known practitioners of this method? Also, I could have used a little more detail in some areas of the book, i.e. arm movement on the backswing. A pitfalls section anticipating the common problems the Redman golfer is likely to encounter on off days would be helpful. An accompanying video to show the swing in action and a few more picture sequences in the book (like a top view or behind view) would be welcome. Also some further analysis on the technical ramifications of a large active hip swing on the swing aimed at the reader who wants to the know why as much as how-to would be helpful. I used this book and it works, but I think it screams for a more detailed second edition with some of the above recommendations.

John Redman’s Essentials of the Golf Swing
I have read many books and taken many lessons, but this is the first book on the golf swing that finally has made sense. Although taking a personal lesson would be best, this book explains in plain English what the golf swing is about. Study it and it should help your golf game.
